Description

This mechanical field technician is a position that will report to the Principal in the Structural Wind Engineering Group of the company.

The role is responsible for design, fabrication, installation and operation of electro-mechanical devices and monitoring devices for vibration control and field measurement of tall buildings and slender structures.

This is a full-time position with an initial evaluation period.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Design or assist design of mechanical / electrical devices such as vibration dampers, mechanicalelectrical devices, and testing devices;
  • Small miscellaneous metal (steel, aluminum, brass, etc.) fabrication and miscellaneous woodworking;
  • Plastics, rubber, or other material work;
  • Checking / creating shop drawings for metal fabrication;
  • Field operation of mechanical / electrical devices such as actuators, motors, and controllers at construction sites;
  • Perform field measurement of buildings or structures under vibration using accelerometer, wind velocity meter, or other sensors;

Requirements:


  • Handon experience on mechanical and/or electrical industry and/or fields;
  • Good understanding on mechanical and/or electrical drawings;
  • 3D CAD experience;
  • Experience with architectural drawing is an asset;
  • Experience with 5axis milling machine will be an asset;
  • Strain gauge or load cell experience will be an asset;
  • 3D printing experience will be an asset;
  • Experience with heavy steel fabrication and assembly will be an asset;
  • Construction site experience will be an asset;
  • Willing to travel for site works in other provinces outside Ontario or US, if required.

Experience:

- millwright: 1 year (preferred)

- mechanical and/or electrical industry: 2 years (preferred)
