The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Director, Government Relations to help advance the organization's policy and advocacy agenda at a critical moment for Canada's history.This role is ideal for a highly motivated policy and government relations professional who is eager to work at the forefront of national business and economic debates.
The Director will serve as a public policy generalist, leading government relations activities across multiple priority files,
Working closely with senior leadership members stakeholders the Director will help shape policy positions engage decision-makers elevate the voice of Canadian business across multiple policy domains
Key responsibilities pitch ideas to your colleagues executive team develop research draft complex compelling policy positions briefing notes submissions advocacy materials monitor analyze municipal provincial federal political developments translate into actionable insights for members leadership represent Canadian Chamber in meetings stakeholder discussions forums engagements Ottawa beyond contribute media engagement background briefings interviews aligned experience build manage relationships mid-level senior stakeholders from Chamber Network Membership partner organizations Canada beyond design organize lead public events roundtables stakeholder convenings grow Canadian Chamber new members sectors economy collaborate internal teams broader network align advocacy efforts maximize impact operate effectively fast-paced office environment managing multiple files deadlines simultaneously periodic travel may required
Qualifications Experience
post-secondary education public administration political science economics business combination education experience keen interest knowledge Canadian politics public policy business issues government relations strategic communications driven researcher multitasker eager master subject proven ability synthesize complex issues clearly concisely proven experience engaging stakeholders mid-level senior levels associations businesses government strong verbal communication skills comfort presenting diverse audiences bilingualism asset prior media experience asset but not required
