    We are looking for a collaborative and resourceful Senior Software Engineer - Backend. You are dedicated, naturally inquisitive and are comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

    This role will be part of and a member of our Data Delivery Group, you will be responsible for analysis, design and implementation in high-performing, experienced team. You'll be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all many areas including requirements, infrastructure, and solutioning.

    This position reports to the AVP – Data Delivery.

    What you'll do

    • Design, code, and maintain microservices with a focus on high product availability, optimum performance, and security.
    • Participate in relevant aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including planning, constructions, testing, reviews, and demonstrations.
    • Develop and review software requirements, build design documents, write programs, and package, test, configure, and deploy software.
    • Efficiently perform debugging and unit testing of code before turning it over to Quality Assurance (QA).
    • Provide excellence of industry direction and trends within API
    • Develop complex API and micro services in an enterprise environment for data science models.
    • Work collaboratively with clients, product managers, analysts, architects, and engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement information technology solutions in a resourceful manner.
    • Provide outstanding technical support to client services to determine resolutions for client issues.
    • Review and build system, software, and functional design specifications efficiently.
    • Mentor development resources on design and code best practices, quality, performance, and security
    • Support & share best practices with teams and internal developer community as well as collaboration and stakeholder management with the broader team.
    • Work in Agile team (Scrum) a passion for Agile methodology but the flexibility to think outside the scrum.
    • Experience with AWS and DevOps is a bonus.

    What you'll bring

    • University degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
    • 5+ years in a backend development role, 2+ years in a senior position.
    • Minimum 4 years of experience in building modern scalable API services.
    • Excellent knowledge of Python, Java, and Spring Boot.
    • Outstanding experience with REST API and web services in AWS.
    • Knowledgeable with database systems such as Hadoop, Postgres, Oracle, and Mongo.
    • Ability to efficiently read code in other languages and reverse engineer products.
    • Experience with Application Program Interfaces (APIs), Messaging
    • Familiar with the Agile software development
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Insurance knowledge an asset-Ability to foundationally understand complex business process driving technical systems.
