    About this opportunity:

    The Rail Fleet Advisor is a significant role within the Rail Business Development team, responsible for cost allocation and reporting and railcar maintenance programs of Cenovus's rail fleet. As part of the Commercial team, this role provides direct impact to Cenovus's value chain and professional development opportunities.

    Reporting to the Director – Rail, Truck and Marine, the primary focus of this role is to approve and track fleet related invoices to the appropriate business units. The successful candidate will track and coordinate programs related to maintaining rail cars, rail car operations, and handling fleet related projects. The Rail Fleet Advisor will work in a result-oriented, dynamic team environment, assisting in developing transportation solutions for Cenovus's production and downstream assets.

    This position is also a primary point of contact between terminals, operations, vendors, contractors, railcar owners and suppliers that collaborate with Cenovus's rail fleet.

    Responsibilities:

  • Approve Rail Fleet related invoices and assign and track the costs to the various business units
  • Assist with yearly budget planning related to the Rail Fleet
  • Develop and implement processes for communicating and storing cost information
  • Be responsible for railcar maintenance programs; bad orders, yearly compliance programs and planning, MRU set ups for Cenovus facilities and Cenovus railcars at customer locations
  • Interpret railcar lease commercial contracts
  • Monthly cost reporting of actuals to budget
  • Responsible for general fleet related administration work; OT-57, Internal System tracking and updates
  • Assignment and tracking of costs of subleased assets
  • Monthly intercompany reporting and cost allocation
  • Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience combined with formal education in Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and travel in the USA;
  • Must complete and maintain any required safety certification
  • Experience in accounting, rail logistics, or equivalent is an asset;
  • Understanding of related Transport Canada and FRA rail regulations
  • Knowledge of Railinc software application and RailCar Tracking Systems is an asset.
