About Us:

The Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department is a government administered non-profit organization responsible for fire prevention, emergency response, and public safety within our district.

Role Overview:

As the Corporate Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the administration and management of Gabriola Fire Department. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, you will oversee various administrative functions, financial operations, and governance matters.


Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Prepare and manage the annual budget.
• Monitor financial transactions and ensure compliance with financial policies.
• Coordinate audits and financial reporting.

Governance and Compliance:

• Provide guidance to the Board of Trustees on governance matters.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, bylaws, and policies.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Coordinate the annual Trustee election.

Administrative Support:

• Manage administrative processes, including recordkeeping, correspondence, and meeting coordination.
• Assist with human resources functions, such as payroll and personnel management.
• Coordinate public meetings and communications.

Qualifications:

• Experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping.
• Experience in administration, preferably within a government related context.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Knowledge of local government processes and regulations.
