Community Support Workers (CSW) - The Bell & Mainstay; Homecare Workers, the Bell and Mainstay


HOURS Days: 7:30am - 4:00pm; adjust schedule in accordance to operational program needs, or as requested by the Program Director.


JOB TERM:
IMMEDIATE TO May 1, 2024 with possibility of extension.

The Main Focus of work during this time will be

  • Managing a successful move of Mainstay operations from 75 Martha to 777 Sargent
  • Stabilizing operations on site once we have moved in in early March
  • Developing further tenanting policy specific to 777 Sargent once we are successfully moved in
  • Implementing the Home Care Program
  • Continuing to uphold operations at the Bell Hotel

JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:


  • The Housing Manager contributes to MSP's goal of eliminating homelessness by developing and implementing culturally safe, low barrier, proactive healing and learning environments where community members can find refuge, identify their goals, and are supported towards success in long term stable housing.


The Housing Manager works in collaboration with other program areas of MSP and external partners to increase the chances of housing success for those with multiple barriers to housing.


To accomplish this work, the housing manager works with leadership to set the budget, set and update policy, train and lead staff and volunteers, develop and implement partnerships, maintain and enhance the physical spaces in which we operate; expand our work where appropriate, and more.

The Housing Manager ensures that all activities are driven by participants to ensure the most appropriate approach possible.


The Program Manager serves as the direct contact for employee development including performance management, program development, evaluation and delivery; ensures appropriate numbers of staff are scheduled in each program and on each shift.

This position is also responsible for the successful facilitation of supports and interventions for MSP clients in coordination with an interdisciplinary team.


MAJOR JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Operations ensure the programs overall operations continuously runs efficiently, delivering program services in the most consistent manner possible:
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of program policies, procedures and activities to align with participant priorities and bring participant experience and outcomes in line with MSP's mission, values, and strategic plan.
  • Provides periodic review, evaluation and modification of programs to ensure activities are meeting participant priorities and are in line with MSP's strategic plan and contractual obligations.
  • Responsible for the supervision, development and accountability of program staff, students, volunteers and interns, ensuring their actions and behaviours are in line with MSP mission, goals, and values, and contributing positively to our strategic plan.
  • Ensures that programs and activities are peer directed and contribute positively towards advancing MSP's strategic plan.
  • Actively creates a culturally safe and secure environment where people feel safe and draw strength in their identity, culture and community; and can develop relationships that offer structure, belonging, and support ongoing personal and interpersonal development.
  • Support community members by ensuring a skilled and collaborative staff environment that can successfully and consistently offer deescalation, crisis intervention, counseling, case management, client grievance/dispute resolution, outreach, and other service activities as necessary in conjunction with other departments.
  • Ensure full 24/7 staff coverage across all programs.
  • Broker relationships with partners and new, relevant and appropriate housing opportunities for MSP residents, and actively develop new options as a part of our project of eliminating homelessness.
  • Work effectively within the MSP team, coordinating work and activities towards the best outcomes for participants across the organization.
  • Fine tunes MSP's housing models for transitional and permanent supportive housing, and supports MSP housing expansion.

Participant Supports & Programs:


  • Manage intakes and orientation of new housing residents; and quick turnover of vacancies.
  • Manage and deliver participant supports and oversee housing procedures
  • Develop, cost and implement an annual calendar of programs informed by and with the participation of residents

  • Model and maintain a safe, traumainformed, lowbarrier, housingfocused philosophy in all programs.
  • Model appropriate physical and emotional boundaries with residents and enforce and train employees and volunteers to maintain same.
