**ASSISTANT SECRETARY-TREASURER
**To assist in the administration and monitoring of the division's financial/accounting requirements.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Secretary-Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer in the development of the annual budget.
  • Assist the Secretary-Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer with the preparation of June 30 year end

- statements.
  • Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and analysis for March 31 year end;
  • Chair the division school budget committee and prepare agendas and supporting documentation;
  • Monitor and maintain capital fund accounts. Prepare year end working papers for capital

- accounts;
  • Administer all division leases, permits and various division insurance programs;
  • Assist the Accounting Supervisor with the completion of internal audits and implementation of
- internal controls, as necessary;
  • Participates in collective bargaining with unions;
  • Attends various divisional meetings as required;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • CPA designation;
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience;
  • Knowledge of F.R.A.M.E., PSAB, and sales tax regulations is an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to supervise staff including training, orienting, coordinating workloads and evaluating

- performance;
  • Ability to work under mínimal supervision, meet strict time deadlines and handle highly

- confidential information;
  • Ability to conduct audits both annually and ongoing;
  • Ability to travel to school locations within the Division and to outside organizations;
  • Ability to attend evening meetings;
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable to the Division.
