We work in every sector working closely with our other business. We provide our clients with innovated but practical solutions to achieve success with their projects. Stantec's Geotechnical and Materials Services team is seeking a Growth Leader for our business in Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Geotechnical Professional with a proven track record in client management, project delivery, and business development.

The Growth Leader will take on responsibilities for strategic business development, revenue generation, and client and account management within key market sub-sectors in collaboration with other Stantec Business Operating Units.

The primary focus for business development will be on geotechnical and material testing growth in Western Canada with the aim to lead the Materials business across Canada under a single consistent vision.

The focus will also be on broadening our services offered to existing clients while using strong internal collaboration.


Your Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Grow the Geotechnical and Materials business in Western Canada.
  • Be responsible for annual preparation of the Materials Plan with inputs from other business line personnel as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership in winning and contracting Master Service Agreements (MSAs), overseeing preparation of prequalifications packages, and leading teams of technical and marketing professionals in responding to requests for proposals (RFPs, as well as sole sourced opportunities).
  • Drive revenue growth opportunities for the entire range of Stantec services and champion an integrated services approach.
  • Partner with appropriate Sector Leaders and Regional Business Leaders (RBLs); assist RBLs in the Budget, Annual Review, and Bonus processes.
  • Build, grow, and develop a team of high performers based in each relevant target geography for the business; recruit & retain specialist staff, project managers and account managers within the practice.
  • Develop inhouse expertise, best practices, and research & development initiatives.
  • Personally, pursue and lead transformational projects within the business.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to assist in growing the assigned market.
  • Responsible for quality and innovation including compliance within the sector with the ISOcertified Integrated Management System and PM Framework.
  • Work directly with the RBLs, regional leaders (RLs), discipline leaders (DLs), and business center leaders to meet net revenue, gross margin, and operating income targets in the groups.
  • Time allocation to include a blend of direct time on projects (approx. 40%) and client
- and proposal-specific marketing and business development (50%).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Strategic Thinking

  • Identify trends and develop a longterm view of the Geotechnical and Materials market and key client account base. Work to position the company in key portions of the market and accounts to provide for sustainable growth.
  • Assist in targeting large prime contracts for strategic growth. Identify new service areas and work collaboratively with others in the company to leverage opportunities for Stantec's entire range of services.
  • Anticipate medium
- and long-term client needs and industry dynamics.

  • Innovate and enhance our capabilities, geographic footprint, and integrated approach.
  • Decisions are made using critical thinking, good business sense, and organizational values to make collaborative decisions involving varying levels of risk and ambiguity.

Leadership

  • Direct marketing and business development activities involving geotechnical services within the Geotechnical and Materials business in Western Canada with the plan to expand that leadership influence in the rest of Canada and North America.
  • Work closely with client account managers, RBLs, and technical service leadership to deliver safe, profitable, and sustainable projects and services for our clients.
  • Develop a team of high performers through coaching and mentoring of business center staff and account managers in growing business with clients.
  • Support the development of multidisciplinary project execution teams.
  • Drive Stantec's Safer Together culture, prioritizing the health and safety of our employees.
