Spire Global is seeking an assembly technician for a new and exciting product line. The products are complex electromechanical devices which will be deployed in harsh environments in the field (outdoors). The role will require a range of skills, from analytical thinking to hands-on implementation and testing. Spire anticipates producing on the order of 1000 device/year.


Responsibilities:

  • Device assembly: Assemble electromechanical devices according to provided schematics, diagrams, and assembly instructions.
  • Contribute to developing assembly and testing processes, setting up facilities and drafting instructions.
  • Install and integrate components such as computers, RF receivers, antennas, power supplies, and ancillary circuitry with precision and attention to detail.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks at each stage of assembly to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve assembly issues promptly to maintain production schedules and product quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, including any modifications or adjustments made during assembly.
  • Work closely with engineering and design teams to provide feedback on assembly processes and suggest improvements for manufacturability.

Key Skills and Experience:


  • Experience with assembly of electromechanical or electronic assemblies.
  • Experience working in an electromechanical manufacturing company, a precision manufacturing company, or highvolume manufacturing company.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and work from drawings, controlled documentation and processes such as: layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures/work instructions; schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience using basic electronic test equipment (e.g. multimeters, power supplies)
  • Experience with timeoptimized assembly for medium to highvolume manufacturing.

Preferred Skills:


  • Experience building wiring looms and cable harnesses.
  • Experience with Linux terminals.
  • Familiarity with radiofrequency technologies
  • Familiarity with networking technologies
  • Experience with electrical wiring.
  • Proficiency in soldering techniques for surface mount and throughhole components.
  • Handson experience with subGHz radiofrequency and embedded computing systems
  • Knowledge of best practices for installing, maintaining, and weatherproofing systems deployed in extreme environments.
