Job Description for Machinist

Position Overview:

The Machinist is responsible for basic tool maintenance, storing programs on CNC machines, and assembly of compressors and components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for quality of workmanship and have an eye for detail;
Responsible for basic tool maintenance;
Make and store programs on CNC machines;
Load programs, tools, and their calibration;
Responsible for machining on manual machines;
Identify areas for improvement and the use of nonconformance forms;
Ensure that time is properly tracked and allocated to each job;
Setup, and operate at least one of the following: Integrex 410, Integrex 200 ST, QT3S, VTC 16B, FH4800, or H630;
Carry out R&D machining
Set up, operate, and program at least 2 of the following: Integrex 410, Integrex 200 ST, QT3S, VTC 16B, FH4800, or H630;
NCR Repair minor modifications for Engineering;
Mentor and/or provide technical advice to other machine shop employees and management (such as helping operators with setups);
Know and understand workplace health and safety rights and responsibilities;
Always follow safe work procedures and act safely in the workplace;
Maintain a safe working environment within the department and on each job;
Use the protective clothing, devices, and equipment required for the job;
Complete all applicable quality records;
Perform work by CEC documented policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent;
Ability to read and interpret blueprints;
Excellent organizational abilities, innovative, and have an eye for quality and detail;
Knowledge of equipment, tools, and mechanical devices;

CNC Machine Shop experience;

Journeyman Machinist or equivalent experience;
Machinist II: CNC Programming Certificate (Level III/IIII/ Trade will be advantageous).

Physical:

Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear;
Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
