This position is presently located at the Woodstock site.


Under the direction of the Manager, Foundational Standards, the Epidemiologist leads Public Health in the planning, organization, implementation and analysis of epidemiological studies and surveillance data that are utilized for program planning and evaluation, applied research, outbreak management and development of health status and other reports and knowledge products.


Qualifications:


EDUCATION

  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Health Research Methodology or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of one (1) year of public health practice, with a role involving quantitative research methodologies and working with large administrative databases preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of public health epidemiology experience preferred
  • Experience using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, SPSS) and proficiency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and other software packages currently used to collect, analyze, report and visualize epidemiological data in Ontario
  • Experience with relevant public health information systems such as COVAX, CCM, Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN), Integrated Public Health Information System (IPHIS) and IntelliHEALTH would be an asset
SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with strong facilitation (presentation), project management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent timemanagement skills and ability to prioritize work, along with strong problemsolving abilities
  • Ability to work in a team environment, respond to competing priorities, build collaborative partnerships, integrate public health programs and knowledge, and deliver results through excellent customer service

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Valid Ontario Driver's license and access to a reliable insured vehicle
  • Must comply with the current Ontario Public Health Standards
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary
  • Adherence to SWPH's policies and procedures

Immunization Requirements:

Provide documentation you have received two (2) doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, plus at least one booster dose, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health's policies and processes related to COVID-19 management in the workplace.
