Major Duties:


  • Sourcing and purchasing of a variety of commodities in accordance with the Principles of Buying to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Specific Responsibilities:


  • Processes Purchasing documentation (ex. Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Cancellation Forms, Continual Improvement Reports) in accordance with ATS Policy and Procedures.
  • Track, monitor, and maintain Purchase Order deliveries and liaise with Production Coordinators to administer changes with mínimal impact to production schedules.
  • Expedites problems with suppliers and vendors regarding costs, quality, quantity and delivery of goods purchased.
  • Communicates with and evaluates vendors to ascertain their ability to meet company requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Negotiates prices, credit terms, discounts and delivery arrangements with suppliers.
  • Keeps informed of new sources of supply for materials and services.
  • Performs ongoing review of product, service, equipment, and expense usage to identify new opportunities for cost savings.
  • Resolves invoicing discrepancies and presents to Senior Buyer for approval.
  • Effective use of historical and other bench marking data to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Assist Senior Buyers and Buyers with special projects and/or tasks as required.
  • To be a key resource for ATS staff by assisting in the research and development of products, service and equipment alternatives, initiation and followup of evaluations, requests for quotation and other day to day procurement.
  • Adhere to all ISO procedures and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications:


Education

  • A postsecondary diploma or degree in purchasing or equivalent. Member of Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) is an asset.

Experience

  • One to two years purchasing experience in a custom manufacturing environment.
  • Sound working knowledge of Excel, Word and other MS Office software.
  • Theoretical and hands on knowledge of purchasing and material planning concepts.
  • Proven organizational, negotiation, communication, and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to interpret Engineering drawings is an asset
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact in a team environment.
