About the opportunity

The Department of Medicine is comprised of 15 clinical/academic divisions and includes 200 specialist physicians, over 100 medical residents in 16 training programs, and more than 90 administrative, support staff located at multiple sites throughout Nova Scotia Health's Central Zone.

The divisions and department play a major leadership role at the regional and provincial level with respect to clinical care, research and education.

The Department of Community Health and Epidemiology (CH&E) is located in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University.

CH&E is home to 19 full-time Faculty and 28 Cross-appointed faculty, working in the areas of epidemiology, applied health services research, population and public health, biostatistics, and knowledge translation and implementation science.

CH&E has many close affiliations with major teaching hospitals along with a proven track record of excellence in funding and research, which allows CH&E the abilities to offer unique learning and research opportunities.

CH&E is home to the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA), the Health and Environments Research Centre (HERC) and Health Data Nova Scotia (HDNS) and contributes to the regional research infrastructure of the Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit (MSSU).

CH&E offers MSc and PhD degrees in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research, and is a major contributor to Undergraduate Medical Education in the Faculty.
