Overview:


Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards, the Compensation Analyst is responsible for providing consultation, guidance, analysis and recommendations related to compensation and salary administration.

The position performs and conducts compensation reviews and analysis, including job evaluation, salary administration, and supports salary survey participation.

The Compensation Analyst works to build positive working relationships with HR and business leaders to provide positive, collaborative support and build trust in our compensation practices and policies.


Responsibilities:


  • Conducts job evaluation reviews of positions across the corporation, ensuring integrity of the system and internal equity.
  • Builds positive working relationships with business leaders and peers to obtain buy in and support of compensation activities.
  • Works to drive education and comprehension of compensation practices and processes across the organization.
  • Works closely with HR business partners and business leaders to review compensation issues and recommend potential solutions.
  • Compiles market benchmarking analysis to ensure market data aligns to job evaluation outcomes.
  • Provides advice and consult on wage and salary administration according to practices.
  • Engages with union representatives on changes related to compensation and obtain agreement.
  • Conducts audits to ensure accurate salary administration practices are followed in accordance with our collective agreement and established guidelines.
  • Provides support in executing of the annual corporatewide compensationrelated activities, including merit and general wage increases.
  • Leads completion and analysis of relevant compensation surveys and benchmarking processes ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Supports the People & Culture division to understand practices and processes related to compensation and salary administration, with the goal of providing consistent and equitable service across the corporation.
  • Participates in process reviews and improvement activities.
  • Recommends solutions for business problems by conducting business case analysis, researching and documenting business processes and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Prepares clear, concise reports and/or presentations outlining findings and provide recommendations to drive decision making.
  • Liaises with providers of services and other MPI departments, to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems.
  • Assists in the creation of associated procedures, documentation, and devises effective and efficient approaches to achieve HR objectives.
  • Builds positive working relationships with vendors and compensation professionals outside of the organization.
  • Conducts comparative and cost analysis, including data collection, qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Stays informed of best practice and industry trends to provide insight and ideas on enhancements to remain competitive.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related field, with additional education in the area of compensation.
  • Designation in compensation (i.e. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Compensation Certification) or currently enrolled in the program is an asset
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset
  • Five years of human resources experience, including two years directly related to compensation and salary administration
