Job Summary


The position works in close-cooperation with the Executive Director, Entry-to-Practice Education, and is responsible for strategic planning, program support, and overall administrative needs of the Faculty's Entry-to-Practice Doctor of Pharmacy (the Program).


This position is responsible for developing policies and procedures, identifying the need for and supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of new initiatives within the Program, participating in the Entry-to-Practice PharmD governance committees, liaising with the Faculty's Enabling Units in support for the Program, and managing a team of Senior Program Assistants.

Organizational Status

The Program Manager reports to the Executive Director, Entry-to-Practice Education. The Faculty of Pharmaceutical

Sciences has the sole mandate to train people to be pharmacists in the province. The Program is the largest academic program in the Faculty with approximately 900 undergraduate students in four year-levels.

This position requires interaction and cooperative work with the decanal leadership, directors of other academic programs and units, faculty members, and staff within the Faculty.


Work Performed- In collaboration with the Executive Director develops, plans, implements and evaluates the Program and the logístical arrangements for the delivery of the Program.- Plans and implements strategic initiatives to promote the Program, coordinating internal and external communications, and acting as a liaison to internal and external parties.- Liaises with Program stakeholders and coordinates the implementation of new educational initiatives and resources that advances the strategic plans at both local Faculty-levels and university-levels, such as the development of PHRM261 Indigenous cultural safety and health course, as well as the piloting of LGBTQ2+ materials.

- Works closely with faculty, staff and students to develop short
- and long-term objectives to ensure Program effectiveness and growth according to criteria and standards outlined by the accrediting body. Provides progress updates and ensures communication is sent out accordingly, as outlined by the accrediting body.
  • Oversees the organization of the Program, including optimizing the use of educational spaces, developmental resources and course scheduling and inventory.
  • Evaluates effectiveness and proposes recommendations on policies and procedures regarding curriculum planning, designing and development including program delivery, credit structure review, course offerings, and curriculum designing and developing for a comprehensive educational program. Reviews requests for curriculum changes. Supports the creation of new courses and updating the curriculum. Communicates with Senate about curriculum changes. Serves as point person for academic policies, conducts reviews on policies and procedures, provides alternatives and solutions to procedures.
  • Serves as Program Leadership Designate, at University level. Provides expert advice on new developments at UBC to facilitate new opportunities for educational programs, policies, procedures and other initiatives and partnerships within the mandate of the Program.
  • Manages internal program reviews, to ensure the Program's studentfacing piece matches or exceeds prescribed national standardized formatting. Advises Faculty and administration on best practices.
  • Leads projects to address issues by setting goals, timelines, delegating work to appropriate staff and faculty, followingup on tasks, and evaluating at project completion.
