- Responsibilities include optimization and support of complex communication systems.
- Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure.
- Program, configure, optimize, test and document complex communications systems.
- Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
- Provide a very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
- Capable of installation of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system implementation, upgrades or support issues
- Total familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques
- Team with System Technologist, Engineering, Project Management and Sales personnel to effectively design, implement, optimize and cutover advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations
- Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies and troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
- Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of Server Environment, Linux, Windows Server, VMware, highly desirable
- Must be highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Must have strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola's customers and subcontractor, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams
- Must be capable of installation of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
- Must be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
- Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable
- Previous knowledge and experience working with some or all of Juniper, HP, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel
- Must have a current, valid driver's license and no traffic violations
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s).
- Travel Percentage will be around 50%
- Bilingual French/English - Must be able to work also in English with our English-speaking clients, customers and partners outside Quebec, as well as, with the rest of the colleagues in Canada, the United States and in other international countries as applicable.
