Description
Alberta Health Services is inviting applications for an Adult Psychiatrist with qualification in addiction psychiatry and or experience in managing patients with concurrent disorders.
The position is primarily a community focused practice.The position will entail providing leadership and direct patient care for patients served by the Edmonton and Sub-Urban Mental Health Clinics.
These clinics operate under the Community Mental Health Service and provide service to our most vulnerable adults with complex and severe chronic mental illnesses including concurrent disorders.
A successful candidate will be the primary psychiatrist providing direct care to clients with Severe and Persistent mental illness including patients with intellectual disability for the purpose of initial assessments and treatment care planning including pharmacological & non-pharmacological management, and follow-up at any of the Edmonton Mental Health Clinics.
The Psychiatrist recruited to this position is required to have specific skills and training or experience in working in all aspects of general adult psychiatry including young adults, acute care, concurrent disorders, and or addiction psychiatry as well as experience in community and rehabilitation psychiatry.
There will be an expectation for physicians to provide post-discharge follow-up at community clinics as part of routine care and to participate in the Community on Call program for the Access 24/7 program.
The successful applicant is expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives within any of the community the programs they work in.
Successful candidate will be expected to seek a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment within the Department of Psychiatry, which will be considered a separate process via the University of Alberta and be actively involved in resident training.
Preferred candidates will have completed advanced training in General Adult Psychiatry with qualification in addiction psychiatry and or experience in managing patients with concurrent disorders.
