Job Description:

The role of bookkeeper is a critical role within this employer's organization.

Bookkeepers are the face that most clients will see the most, and the ability to communicate effectively with their clients is essential.

The nature of accounting work lends itself to busy and slow periods.

The bookkeeper will be expected to work more during quarter ends and a significant amount of overtime may be required during tax season.


For an assigned set of business clients:
Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and completely. Identify transactions that require more information or explanation from the business owners. Communicate issues to clients in a clear, concise, firm and friendly non-jargon manner. Review general trends with an aim to improve profitability and controls for the businesses they support.

On a regular monthly or weekly basis:

  • With a high degree of accuracy.

complete full cycle bookkeeping including:

  • Entering transactions or accepting bank feed data
  • Biweekly payrolls for assigned clients
  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Monthly KPI infographics where required.
  • Prepare monthly payroll withholding.

On a quarterly basis:

  • Prepare HST reports, communicate with clients and file with CRA.
  • Quarterly KP infographics where required.

On an annual basis:

  • Collect dividend information throughout the year and bring forward during filing window.
  • Prepare T5s to recognize dividend income.
  • Reconcile CRA payroll accounts and remittances in January to advise clients if any remittances are missed. Prepare T4s.
  • Reconcile CRA RC and RT accounts at fiscal year end.
  • Onetime bookkeeping projects to support personal tax season.
Critical skills

  • Able to effectively communicate with clients in a casual, professional and effective way
  • A high degree of accuracy combined with an attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and pitch in when required
  • QBO Certified with intermediate excel skills
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to discern transactions with incomplete or partial client information

Pay:
$21.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Pickering, ON L1W 3E6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:


  • Secondary School (required)

Experience:


  • QuickBooks: 1 year (preferred)
  • Bookkeeping: 1 year (required)
