$22.70 / hour plus 8.6% in lieu of statutory holidays and benefits


YOUR ROLE WITH BEACON:


The Hospitality Worker joins a multi-faceted team working in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Beacon Community Services at Parry Place Assisted Living Residence.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, The Hospitality Worker provides all aspects of housekeeping service in the dining room, kitchen, and suites for residents, guests, and the public.

The Hospitality Worker also assists in the dining room with all aspects of meal service and delivery.

They participate in the maintenance of safe and sanitary workplace practices and respond to resident and building emergencies when necessary.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Carries out general laundering, housekeeping, and meal service duties for all residents, practicing and maintaining established standards for proper cleanliness and sanitation required by Beacon Community Services policies and procedures.
  • Daily tidying & cleaning of common areas as well as resident's suites.
  • Responsible for providing terminal cleans when suites are vacated.
  • Provides enhanced cleaning if suspected infectious disease outbreak.
  • Knows and follows all health & safety requirements affecting the job, corrects unsafe conditions immediately, and reports them to Management.
  • Interacts in a positive and supportive manner with seniors and provides quality service.
  • Responsible for reporting noticeable changes in resident behavior.
  • Participates in Parry Place emergency policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates respect for resident's choices in regard to their housekeeping.
  • Promotes and maintains positive and respectful communication and relationships among team members and residents, reporting all pertinent information to Management.
  • Provides assistance to all other team members when required.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • FOODSAFE Certification (to be renewed every 3 years)
  • First Aid Certification (to be renewed upon expiry)
  • WHMIS Certification (to be renewed annually)
  • Able to effectively use a computer and electronic devices

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Experience with general housekeeping and meal service duties
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated by tact, diplomacy, empathy, patience and concern in providing quality service
  • A good command of the English language, both verbal and written skills
  • Ability to take direction and learn procedures
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
  • Ability to use housekeeping tools such as laundry machines, vacuum cleaners etc.
  • Experience in working with Seniors; preferably in an Assisted Living or Residential Care setting
  • Demonstrated organizational/time management skills, ability to multitask
