The Manager, Employee Communications - Corporate is responsible for the development and implementation of effective communication strategies and products, including for senior executives, to ensure employee understanding and acceptance of corporate initiatives and foster culture change.


_This position may be located in Montreal and/or Toronto. _

  • Manage production and distribution of various corporate publications, including Horizons, the monthly employee newsletter and the daily newsfeed
  • Work closely with all departments within Air Canada to provide full communication support (including development of communication plans, writing/editing, etc.) for a variety of initiatives and programs, with a varying degree of complexity and duration.
  • Take an innovative approach to content creation and storytelling, working with out multimedia department to craft creative content in various mediums including video, social media etc.
  • Counsel and support various executives and other members of senior management with strategies, content and messaging.
  • Editorial oversight and governance of AC Life our employee app as well as Aeronet, our intranet
  • Maintain strong working relationship with all branch communicators to ensure consistency in messaging and tone, quality, and timely exchange of information.
  • Direct and coordinate projects and provide coaching/counselling/leadership to branch or project communicators on various products and services as required.
  • Provide communications leadership, coaching and direction to other branch managers tasked with communicating operational information.
  • Develop strategies to improve communication efficiency and delivery and ensure that communications are aligned between departments and with Corporate messaging and goals.
  • Coach managers in social media skills for internal social space (currently Yammer).
  • Ensure that all branches are wellrepresented in all Corporate Employee Communications channels (Horizons, the Daily, Yammer)

Qualifications

  • Outstanding English writing and editing skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of Canadian Press editorial standards
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines
  • Highly developed social media skills, experience and comfort level with other digital and electronic mediums such as webinars, live chats, video etc.
  • Must be very comfortable working with/providing guidance and feedback to senior executives.
  • Must work well under pressure
  • Highly motivated, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, team player
  • Knowledge of Word and PowerPoint, and all forms of electronic communication, including digital and social media.
