    Our expectations
    CORE (Customer Oriented Results & Excellence) is the Operating System of RTX. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will use the CORE Framework along with employee input to solve problems affecting quality and flow within the Halifax Operations Domain. They will lead cross functional team CORE engagements and use their knowledge of lean manufacturing and quality improvement tools to identify and implement solutions that positively impact critical KPIs.

    What your day to day will look like?

    Reporting to the Quality Manager and working with the manufacturing subdomains (Case Line, Blade Line, IBF Line), you will:

    • Lead, facilitate, and own CORE engagements in the areas of CoPQ, Control Tower, Goal Alignment, Process Analysis, CORE Framework Maturity, and Andon.
    • Participate and support daily Tier 2 meetings as outlined in P&W guidance.
    • Develop, participate in, and support a structured QNLI reduction initiative.
    • Co-own CORE Control Room reporting systems and ensure the accuracy of the macro plan.
    • Work closely with the domain CORE focal to ensure alignment of transformation and CORE maturity level progression plans.
    • Co-facilitate CORE Council meetings.
    • Update (daily/weekly/monthly/bi-annual/annual) reporting systems.
    • Utilize communication and soft skills to build relationships with employees, leadership, and external domains and suppliers.
    • Co-mentor engineering students to achieve a win-win scenario.
    • Co-lead CORE onboarding training.
    • Be able to work autonomously; you are self-managed with demonstrated attention to detail and follow-up.
    • Be dependable and reliable; utilize your proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities that will exist in your daily workload.

    The tools you need to be successful

    • Degree or Diploma in an engineering discipline, Journeyman Machinist, or a equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
    • 3 years (minimum) experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in Lean manufacturing
    • Strong knowledge of Continuous Improvement methods with documented success in problem solving (ex. CORE Professional, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
    • Solid understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
    • Power BI, Sketchup, and AutoCAD proficiency is considered an asset.
    • Achieve CORE Certifications:
      • CORE Apprentice certification within 1 year
      • CORE Champion certification within 1 year
      • CORE Professional Training completed within 1 year
      • CORE Expert certification within 3 years
