What Are We About?:


Reporting to the Director, Employee and Labour Relations, you are responsible for providing a complete range of sound, timely and proactive strategic and operational human resource services to specific schools and service departments that advance the College's strategic goals and commitments.

This includes providing advice, counsel and support on a wide range of Human Resources functions to enable the success of employees, to achieve divisional objectives and to ensure compliance with legislation, collective agreements and human resource policies and procedures.


You will assist clients with the following:

strategic level Human Resources planning, implementation of employee engagement action plans and performance management processes; execution of equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives; and departmental restructuring.

You interact with Union representatives to resolve issues and concerns in your client areas and you interpret and administer academic and support staff collective agreements.

You will conduct internal investigations with regard to college policies and collective agreements. You will work with employee, management and unions in the return to work and accommodation process.

As a Human Resources Consultant, you will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and policy development, lead and manage assigned projects, and develop and deliver training sessions for managers.

What We Are Looking For:


  • A relevant combination of education and work experience including a degree in a related discipline (such as Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business) and progressive human resources experience including generalist experience providing guidance and advice on a wide range of human resources issues, or equivalent combination of formal education and a minimum of seven (7) years' relevant work experience
  • Knowledgeable in human resources best practices, policies, procedures and legislation
  • Highly developed analytical, research, reasoning and innovative problemsolving skills with ability to address complex issues
  • Experience leading and managing investigations and reporting findings
  • Embraces diversity and inclusion and easily adapts in a challenging environment where a diversity of people, situations and issues are encountered
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Resultsoriented self starter who demonstrates initiative and accountability
  • Superior client service skills with a focus on responsiveness
  • Ability to appropriately deal with sensitive and confidential matters, exercise tact and diplomacy and exhibit sound judgement
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including welldeveloped listening skills
  • Strong capabilities in the areas of conflict resolution, consensus building and persuasion/influence
  • Exemplary time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Certification in Human Resources Management (CHRL) is preferred
  • Experience in an educational setting is an asset
