    A Public Health Inspector practicum must be complete to qualify. To express interest in a practicum, forward a request to the Team Lead – Environmental Health.

    In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Environmental Health Officer is responsible for carrying out a diverse program of environmental health protection.

    Using a variety of professional and technical skills, the position reduces the incidence of communicable disease, injury, and health hazards; performs technical assessments; ensures that community development does not conflict with a healthy environment; ensures compliance with environment health legislation, policy, and standards.

    Shift Rotation/Hours of Work
    Monday to Friday, Days - 08:30 to 16:30

    Bachelor's Degree:
    in Environmental Health or equivalent, recognized by the Board of Certification, Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.

    Certificate:

    in Public Health Inspection (Canada) issued by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors and be registered or eligible to be registered with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.


    License:
    Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and possession of a personal vehicle.

    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using, oral written and computer communication means.

    Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.


    Leadership:
    Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking.

    Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of Northern Health policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.

    Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools.
