Responsibilities:


  • Conducts departmental meetings and in services training in the department
  • Participate in town hall meetingsReceives verbal/written endorsement regarding changes in resident status
  • Ensures open communication between staff and other team members
  • Encourage participation in the Home's committees/teams
  • Assists in the facilitation in the Home's Resident Food Committee in collaboration with the Food Service Manager
  • Reports observations to Dietician or Food Services Manager relating to resident care and others (food preferences, likes & dislikes, intake)Completing RAI/MDS/Care Plan and quarterlies to low and moderaterisk residentsAttends annual care reviews or special care reviews in the absence of the Food Service ManagerMentoring new staff and studentsSupport and promote a team approachOngoing delivery of customer service with staff, residents, families, and the general publicEnsuring optimal quality of life for each resident by providing wellbalanced meals
  • Report faulty equipment and ensure lock/tag out is practiced
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care standards and regulations.
  • Required to understand the nature and meaning of the quality indicators used by the Home and to understand which indicators are publicly reported.
  • Required to participate in the improvement of the indicators and achieve satisfactory results.
  • Utilize equipment and supplies within budgetary constraints

  • Completes invoices and variance reporting in the absence of the Food Service Manager
  • Make orders and maintains the menu in the absence of the Food Service Manager
  • Monitors supplement costs in collaboration with the Food Service Manager

Job Task Inventory Qualifications:
The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:

  • Active member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition & Management (CSNM) or a registered dietitian
  • Comprehensive knowledge of longterm care concepts and philosophies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsPrevious managerial experience in a longterm care setting an asset
  • Policy and program development
  • Good judgment & decisionmaking, solving problems & resolving conflicts skills
  • Preferably a minimum of 2 years of experienceKnowledgeable of the Ministry of Long-Term Care and Public Health's rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable about Hazard Analysis Critical Control Procedures (HACCP)
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening (within the last 6 months), recent TB test results (within the last 6 months) or Chest Xray (within the last 1 year),
  • Two supervisory references required,
