Job Summary:


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for full cycle recruitment for all union and non union vacancies including fulltime, temporary, seasonal and campaigns such as Transit Operators and Firefighters.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with hiring managers to create and implement innovative recruitment strategies and initiatives, that align with corporate direction and meet both current and future business needs
  • Work closely with the Hiring Mangers to ensure integration of Equity Diversity and Inclusion principles in all stages of recruitment.
  • With the Hiring managers Build marketing plans for campaigns, seasonal and high volume positions and other positions that require targeting marketing.
  • Partner with external agencies to source Senior Level vacancies and hard to fill roles.
  • Coach /train and support hiring managers through the recruitment process as per the City's Recruitment policy and guidelines and current talent acquisition technologies (ie SuccessFactors).
  • Develop and deliver training sessions as necessary to hiring managers.
  • Ensure all pre hire requirements for fulltime, parttime, seasonal and contract staffs are met.
  • Ensure recruitment activity is updated on a regular basis in an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to meet recruitment goals & metrics based on established processes
  • Ensure compliance with current legislation and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Assist in Talent Acquisition work plans, projects and other initiatives to support business operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education, College diploma or University degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant Human Resources experience including full lifecycle recruiting.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional designation preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to interpret, all relevant Acts (i.e. employment legislation, Labour Relations Act, Human Rights, WSIB, etc.) and all applicable regulations in both a union and nonunion environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on complex and varied recruitment portfolios at various levels and roles.
  • Ability to make decisions with confidence and accuracy in a timely manner pertaining to the full cycle recruitment process.
  • Experience using various sourcing techniques, such as social networking, direct initiatives, employee referrals, creative advertising etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion, confidentiality and diplomacy at all times
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice and guidance at all levels.
  • Organized selfstarter who sets priorities and drives deliverables for a wide variety of recruitment related tasks to execution with mínimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective and collaborative team player with strong customer service skills.
