As Country Manager, Canada, you will be responsible for executing AXA XL's strategy in Canada.

You will provide leadership by managing, coordinating, encouraging and mediating between all product lines and functional departments within the country.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Integrating all disciplines across your country organization through aligned goal setting in close cooperation with underwriting and functional departments.
  • Collaborating with underwriting managers and support functions to determine how global product strategies may be executed.
  • Developing business plans for the country in line with global and regional strategy.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the annual plan with Regional and Product heads and amend/stretch target where applicable.
  • Actively seeking new business opportunities which fit with AXA XL's risk appetite and global strategy.
  • Driving growth by identifying new markets (e.g., new channels, new products or acquisitions) and by further developing existing markets (e.g., deeper relationship with existing brokers and clients) in collaboration with AXA XL's underwriting unit leaders and functional line managers.
  • Developing and effectively managing senior broker and client relationships for the enterprise in collaboration with the underwriting unit heads.
  • Developing and further enhancing Broker and Distribution Management plans locally and be responsible for effective local implementation of centrally negotiated global broker agreements.
  • Monitoring broker performance and managing remuneration levels across all lines with underwriting heads.
  • Representing and marketing AXA XL and its products to the Insurance market, leading a customer focused approach providing innovative and customized solutions to customer needs.
  • Providing strategic insight into the local market opportunities across AXA XL's underwriting units.
  • Ensuring that AXA XL is in compliance with appropriate legal, tax and regulatory issues, including acting as liaison with regulators.
  • Developing business plans for Canada in line with Regional and Product heads and amend where applicable.
  • Ensuring service delivery levels, both internal and external, are managed effectively and are at industry leading standards.
  • Fulfilling various board responsibilities including relationship management with the regulator. Act as the Chief Agent in Canada of the company for the purposes of the _Insurance Companies Act._
  • Ensuring submission volumes, quote rates, new business and retention ratios are at budgeted levels.
  • Effectively managing the Sales & Distribution operating costs and maintaining oversight of other operating costs to ensure the efficiency of the office.
  • Leading the Canadian sales organization, including supervising Client & Distribution Leaders, an Office Manager and an Administrative Assistant for the Canadian market.
  • Lead and promote a collaborative, diverse and inclusive working environment.
  • Develop and sustain a culture of high engagement by leading through the AXA XL Leadership Commitments

  • Extensive relevant work experience (experience in the large corporate insurance business, ideally with underwriting, claims or reinsurance background) in own functional and/or operational area.

  • Experience in working in a globally managed company and within matrix organizations.
  • Outstanding service mentality.
