The Opportunity

What you'll do

  • The Editor provides copy editing expertise for the technical materials for the CPA Canada Handbooks in an efficient, effective and timely manner to ensure standards are produced correctly
  • Ensures production integrity and reviews documents for proper style and format and adhering to established style guide conventions
  • Works closely with internal stakeholders for project planning, management and coordination of production, translation and proofing of Handbook materials and other documents
  • Monitors projects to ensure production problems and issues are addressed
  • Assesses work order parameters, prioritizes assignments, and meets deadlines
  • Updates style guide conventions, templates and resources and ensures technical staff are provided with current versions
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to implement and support processes to help meet demands and timelines
  • Initiates ongoing inperson quality assurance reviews with technical staff with the goal of improving processes

What we're looking for:


  • 35 years of copy editing experience, ideally related to technical content
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build effective working relationships regardless of level or technical background (i.e. VP., Directors, Principles, Language Services, MS, Web Publishing etc.)
  • Detail oriented, accurate and can coordinate the required level of consistency across Standards
  • Highly organized, procedure and schedule oriented; able to plan and manage multiple projects / tasks effectively
  • Proactive, problem solver
  • Ability to work independently in a selfdirected manner while still being an excellent team player
  • Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively in a fastpaced, timesensitive environment with ability to meet critical deadlines without compromising standards
  • Knowledge of Accounting terminology i.e. Accounting 101 an asset
