Project Coordinator - Focus on Youth

Under the direction of a supervisor, the Project Coordinator for the Focus on Youth Program will lead and work with 2 Project Monitors in student employee hiring process, develop, deliver, and evaluate the student employee training, and monitor student employees.


Coordination Duties

  • Support and work in tandem with 1 Project Monitor, as well as monitor students to ensure excellence in the Project delivery, including ensuring all reports, timesheets and other deliverables are completed ontime.
  • Provide mentorship to Project Monitors and support problem solving efforts to support students.
  • Ensure all materials are collected and returned to Grand Erie upon project completion.
  • Other coordinating duties as assigned by the Principal.

General Duties

  • Coordinate the interviewing, hiring and orientation of Grand Erie District School Board secondary school students for placement in the Focus on Youth program and contribute to arranging the placement of hired students in community programs. (May to August)
  • Coordinate the interviewing, hiring and orientation of Grand Erie District School Board secondary school students for placement in the Focus on Youth Federal Funding program and contribute to arranging the placement of hired student tutors in summer school classes.
  • Responsible for developing the content for training, delivering the training, and evaluating the training for approximately 14 Focus on Youth student employees to support employment placements, 20 hours preemployment training and ongoing throughout the designated time for secondary students hired to work with community agency programs. Training includes employee responsibilities, leadership styles and effective practices, emergency procedures, group management, character development, communication strategies, decisionmaking, conflict resolution, program planning, activity planning and practice. Arrange Standard First Aid and C.P.R. training as part of preemployment training.
  • Responsible for developing the content for training, delivering the training, and evaluating the training for approximately 2025 Focus on Youth Federal Funding Program students to support tutoring placements and enrolment in summer school courses.
  • Assist a Grand Erie social worker with the delivery of wellbeing training, conflict resolution and other mental health training
  • Assist students in the successful performance of their duties in their placements by monitoring a group of students and providing continued leadership development and training for all student employees through weekly, evening, learning community days during programming. (May to August)
  • Collect information and provide evaluation which includes baseline data on students, training outcomes evaluation, weekly student logs, placement reflections, culminating tasks, student performance, and attendance. (May to August)
  • Assist in the preparation of program final reports and program evaluation. (August)
  • Ensure that applicable policies and procedures of the Board are explained to Focus on Youth student employees and provides training that is in accordance with the provisions of applicable health and safety legislation and all Board policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education
  • Precious Coordinator or Leadership Experience is an asset
  • Previous experience supervising and leading youth is preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in written form
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have excellent public relation skills
  • Ability to lead consistently and provide objective evaluation
  • Must possess a class "G" driver's license valid in the province of Ontario and have a reliable vehicle
  • Knowledge of instructional programs and methods is an asset
  • Knowledge of Board organizational structures, programs and policies is an asset

Job Specifications

Hours of Work

  • 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
    Rate of Pay
- $24.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
