CN's network and technologies across North America:

  • Is composed of all types of communications media including fiber, copper, cell, wireless and microwave.
  • Is composed of more than 8000 Cisco routers and switches, more than 700 access points and 700 Nokia MPLS service routers.
  • Is composed of Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls, packet shapers and IP management platforms.
CN is looking for a self-starter who can rapidly analyze situations, and decisively take justifiable actions. Some travel may be required.

The role of a Specialist, Network & Telecom is a technical position with in-depth knowledge of Telecom network infrastructure.

The specialist is responsible for the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Incident and Problem Management
  • Vulnerability Management
  • Capacity and Performance Management
  • Lifecycle Management
  • Change Management (plan /coordinate and implement telecom changes)
  • Detailed analysis and operation review of Datacenters and LAN/WAN Infrastructure
  • Perform Network Operational Audits, verifications to existing standards
  • Internal / External project involvement (provide guidance and direction to proper transition to operations)
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation, testing and cutover of Telecom technologies into existing telecom infrastructure. This may include the guidance of field technicians.
  • Assist Disaster Recovery exercises
  • Provide 3rd Level support to pager roster (24/7) rotation basis
  • Mentor and coach peers

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. Telecommunications specialization preferred.
  • 5+ years in IT with a minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated experience in providing handson technical expertise within large corporate environments.
  • Expertise in LAN/WAN technologies, WAN Optimization, IPAM.
  • Expertise in Datacenter technologies (Leaf and spine technology).
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting skills in EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP, MP-BGP, MPLS, redistribution between different routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP stack, IPv4, TCP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, GRE, IPSEC, ESP, NAT, DHCP, DNS, FHRPs, QoS, SNMP, Tacacs, Radius.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Wi-Fi networks, including Cisco Prime, WLCs, APs, ISE and all related technologies.
  • Experience and knowledge in operations and optimization of IP networks.
  • Good understanding of communications media (fibre, copper, wireless) and structured cabling best practices.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Cisco CCNP/CCIE Certification or equivalent knowledge.

  • Scripting skills
  • Knowledge in cloud solutions (Google, Azure)
  • Knowledge of Firewall (Juniper and Palo Alto)
  • Experience with cellular solutions, including APN, CDMA, GSM, HSPA, UMTS, GPRS/EDGE, LTE and others.
  • Experience with Nokia 7750, 7705 and 7210 platforms
  • Experience in building business cases and providing estimates
