About the Role


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Manager of Marketing and Communications sets strategy and guides marketing and communications activities for the agency.

The Manager will develop marketing strategies that increase awareness and attract new donors, volunteers, and program participants; oversee marketing department staff; and project manage department workflow and day-to-day marketing communications activities.


Main Functional Areas

  • Marketing with a particular focus on digital marketing strategies
  • Fundraising communications in collaboration with Senior Director of Philanthropy and Campaigns
  • Programs communications particularly participant and volunteer recruitment campaigns & collateral
  • People leadership providing supervision, direction, and guidance to a team of two, plus summer / student placements as required

What you will be doing:


Marketing & Communications

  • Leading the marketing & communications team in the development of audience targets and digital marketing strategies for programs and the organization with the goal to attract girls /youth / volunteers, increase revenue, and deepen engagement.
  • Working collaboratively with the fundraising team to develop and execute marketing strategies that support fundraising goals.
  • Creating strategy to achieve and sustain growth targets for social platforms.
  • In collaboration with the team, coordinating activities that support brand awareness and audience development goals.
  • Managing media relations and partnerships
  • Ensuring website is leveraged as a key communication vehicle; reviewing data insights to inform enhancements to unique user group experience
  • Guiding creation of annual report and newsletters

Agency & People Leadership

  • Providing advice and guidance in area(s) of expertise to CEO & SLT
  • Reporting on activities, identifies and manages risks, drives for results
  • Reinforcing desired culture through positive role modeling to all employees, promoting agency vision and mission, acting as an ambassador for the agency
  • Assisting with agency functions and events as required
  • Providing direct reports with the environment, communication, resources, direction, and support, aligned with JEDI principles, so they can contribute their best work.
  • Maintaining an active and positive presence in functional area

What you bring:


  • Post-Secondary education in: Marketing and / or Communications (preferred) or Business
  • Three or more years of experience (ideally in the notforprofit sector):
  • developing overall marketing and communications strategies targeted to multiple
stakeholders
- implementing and managing strategic communications initiatives
- managing a brand
- leading a team and managing a department

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
  • Experience building and leading internal teams
  • Superior skills writing for various audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and execute digital marketing campaigns
  • Prioritizes work and adjusts with ease to tight and changing timelines
  • High energy, dynamic and results oriented with demonstrated track record of striving to meet and exceed extraordinary goals
