About the Role:


You, as the Fleet Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of Claystone's rural collection and tractor trailer fleet, coordinating third party haulers, rural transfer stations, maintenance of heavy equipment, asset maintenance and management.

In addition, your role will support sales and business development by adding incremental tasks and accountabilities to your portfolio as we grow and add locations.

Additionally, you will play a crucial role in implementing a new maintenance management and routing software systems that optimize all fleet and shop logistics to enhance operational performance and cash flows.

The Fleet Operations Manager is accountable for the safe, efficient, and effective management of the maintenance and logistics teams. This includes managing all fixed equipment, off-road, and on-road fleet used at Claystone Waste Ltd. (CWL), and service/maintenance of that fleet of equipment. In addition, you will be accountable for leading Claystone's logistics teams who provide residential and commercial waste transport services.

The geographic footprint of these transport services includes the operation of five rural municipal transfer stations throughout Beaver County, transportation locally and potentially throughout western Canada.


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will follow the policies and procedures of CWL in the execution of your duties.

Adherence to the organization's Occupational and Health, Safety & Environment Services (HSE) program is a must.


We're Looking for Someone Who Has:

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Business, Engineering, Logistics, or Business Administration; AND/OR an Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty or Commercial Vehicle journeyman ticket, AND/OR a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 5 years of proven experience in heavy duty or commercial vehicle repair facilities, fleet management, and/or solid waste collections in a similar industry (e.g., waste management, construction, transportation).
  • Class 1 or Class 3 license is an asset. Ability to obtain may be required.
  • Excellent computer and technology skills.
  • 5 years of strong understanding of heavy equipment maintenance practices, inventory processes, enhanced GPS and software programs, fleet operations, sales and business development, and fleet management systems.
  • Strong demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a strong team of employees from all backgrounds with a focus on organizational culture, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Ideally you are willing and able to assist with the generation of sales and business development opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership, commitment to culture, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and drive operational excellence.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to implement relevant safety policies, provincial and federal regulations, and operating procedures.
