PURPOSE:

Responsible for actioning items related to co-ordination of logistics and distribution, ensuring product quality is not compromised and that shipped product quality is in keeping with company standards.

Liaises with shipping/receiving, inventory, and maintaining accurate parts and quality control.


This position will be 70 % hands on assisting shipping/ receiving, coordinating with Plant and shop staffs and 30 % Administrative related tasks.



Responsibilities:


  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of dock and warehouse personnel, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Assign duties to team members, such as inspecting, storing, and delivering millwork products, and provide guidance as needed.
  • Oversee the shipping and receiving process for millwork items ensuring that all products are handled with care to prevent damage.
  • Conduct regular inspections of incoming millwork from assembly, shipments to verify quality and quantity, and address any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with leads in assembly and PM team to prioritize orders and ensure timely delivery of millwork products to customers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all millwork items, conducting regular cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies as needed.
  • Enforce safety protocols and best practices in the handling and storage of millwork products, including proper lifting techniques and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Train new employees on warehouse procedures, safety guidelines, and proper handling of millwork materials.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the handling or storage of millwork products and implement solutions to maintain efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, such as assembly, finishing, and machining to coordinate logistics and address customer inquiries or concerns.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, and report any issues for repair.
  • Lead by example and foster a positive work environment among warehouse staff, promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Experience routinely maintaining and updating Finished Goods inventory
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Office, especially Excel (working with tables) for inventory/reports
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations best practices, including maintenance, organization, and packing and labeling/storage procedures
  • Experience in a production environment, particularly within wood product or custom manufacturing industries
  • Familiarity with domestic/international LTL/FTL trucking procedures
  • Timely coordination with production to fulfill shipment requirements based on project team requests
  • The ability to effectively multitask and prioritize tasks throughout the day
  • Experience operating fork lift, pallet truck and other warehouse equipment
  • Ensuring product received from production is checked for quality and that production/Project team is advised of any deficiencies
