Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is recruiting for a Maintenance Worker III. This Facilities Maintenance & Engineering (FM&E) position repairs and maintains equipment in AHS facilities in Red Deer.

Using your skills and knowledge you will perform daily building and equipment checks, repair kitchen and housekeeping equipment, perform minor plumbing repairs, perform planned maintenance on facility equipment such as air handlers, repair door hardware, and various other tasks as assigned.

This position works in and out of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre but will also be required to travel with a company vehicle to other AHS facilities.


Description:


As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment.

You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building.

Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems.

In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:


Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary.

Possession of a valid driver's licence.

As required.


Preferred Qualifications:

ABSA 5th Class Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency (or greater). Journeyman Certificate in a building trade. 5 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of health care facilities. Ability to understand simple schematic drawings, read blueprints, equipment repair manuals, and manufacturer installation instruction and specifications. Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite and in a computerized maintenance management system.
