    Description

    Position Overview

    Under the direction of the Manager Allied Health and the Patient Care Manager, the incumbent provides quality Respiratory Therapy services. Collaborating with clients, the Respiratory Therapist delivers therapeutic, diagnostic, technical, and teaching services in line with professional standards. Commitment to professional development, research, and promoting respiratory therapy ensures quality client care.

    • Recent and relevant clinical experience is preferred.

    Education

    • Degree or diploma in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent education recognized by the Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (MARRT).

    Certification/Licensure/Registration

    • Current registration with MARRT required.
    • Current registration/membership in the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) or equivalent certification as determined by the employer.
    • Current ACLS provider level certification.
    • CPR Training requirements as per WRHA policy.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Knowledge of Respiratory Therapy principles.
    • Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
    • Effective English verbal and written communication.
    • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships.
    • Professional judgment, initiative, and critical thinking.
    • Proficiency in clinical reasoning and decision-making.
    • Ability to adapt to new healthcare concepts.
    • Understanding of evidence-based practice and research.
    • Team collaboration and independent work ability.
    • Effective organizational and conflict resolution skills.
    • Commitment to continued professional growth.
    • Ability to prioritize workload and maintain confidentiality.
    • Safely perform duties without harm to self or others.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual ventilation.
    • Capability to handle heavy medical equipment.
    • May require occasional extended hours and weekend shifts.
    • Potential exposure to various workplace hazards.
    • Ability to assist in emergency situations.

    This role necessitates a current Criminal Records, Child Abuse Registry, and Adult Abuse Registry check. Successful candidates will cover any related service charges.
