Construction Workers - New Glasgow, Canada - ARCP

Salary:
Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in heavy civil excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement and asphalt paving.
We are currently looking to hire energetic, hard-working people to join our team for a 1-month job in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
The job will run for the month of November, 2023. We are hiring labourers & operators to work in the area that have their own reliable transportation to get to the work site.
Labourer Requirements:
- Must be reliable, punctual and possess a positive attitude.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs repetitively & capable of physically demanding manual labour.
- Able to work as a team and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers, ensuring all tasks are being completed in a safe and timely manner.
- Valid class 5 drivers license and/or reliable transportation to and from work.
- Previous experience as a construction labourer preferred.
Labourer Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly inspect tools and equipment daily.
- Participate in safety conscious activities such as tailgate meetings every morning.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all rules and regulations set forward by foremen.
- Loading and unloading construction materials.
- Perform a large variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labour.
- Possibility of working in confined spaces such as trenches, manholes, etc.
- Other various construction related activities as instructed
Operator Requirements:
- 3 years operating heavy equipment in a civil construction environment.
- Ability to operate large machinery in tight spaces safely & accurately.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to keep yourself on task & schedule.
- Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment.
- Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification considered an asset.
Operator Responsibilities:
- Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident/injuries immediately to the supervisor.
- Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality workmanship.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required.
- Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
- Maneuver trucks/heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from crew members as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Operate equipment such as mobile radios and telephones to exchange necessary information to supervisors or other operators.
- Ensure that any debris caused by loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up.
