City University of Seattle's School of Health and Social Sciences is one of the lead producers of counselors for Washington State and British Columbia, Canada.

Job Summary:

The Academic Program Director reports to the Director of Canadian Counselling Programs and is responsible for quality student experience. Provide visionary leadership and management to ensure the program's success, including program design, assessment, technology integration, and curriculum development.

The Director leads and manages Associate Program Directors, support staff, and teaching faculty, fosters student development, and actively engages in academic governance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Program Management
Plans, organizes, directs, and monitors program operations, including curriculum assessment, review, and development. Maintains program currency and leads the effort to review and revise the program to enhance student learning experience.

  • Teaching Excellence


Teaches two courses a year or the equivalent, within compensation, as assigned to ensure the quality of program and student learning experience.

Models excellence in teaching and learning and fosters student development.

  • Performance of faculty and staff management
Oversees Associate Program Directors, staff, and teaching faculty performance to ensure program quality. Responsible for hiring, developing, evaluating, and managing expectations of faculty and staff. Provides effective orientation, training, mentoring, and coaching for faculty and staff to foster a respectful and empowering learning environment.

  • Curriculum Development and Review
  • Student Learning and Development
Oversees and advocates for student learning and engagement. Proactively develops students to become responsible, ethical, and self-directed professionals. Responsible for interviewing and selecting students for the program and overseeing internship opportunities.

  • Academic and Institutional Governance
Influences academic and institutional governance through leadership and participation on councils and committees.

  • Currency and Scholarship
Provides visionary leadership to ensure faculty currency. Models, encourages and promotes scholarship in teaching and learning.

  • Service and Outreach
Participates in and promotes professional communities in areas of expertise.


Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Counseling or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in teaching, preferably in both inclass and online modes of educational delivery.
  • Experience in higher education management and leadership.
  • Ability to address student academicrelated issues and concerns in support of retention and student success.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing in a creative and fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to manage virtual teams.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities.
