Position Summary

Provides technical support and expertise in the effective use of the various systems, businessprocesses and interfaces to support the operations to all the City's operating Departmentsincluding overall performance, troubleshooting, modification, improvement and maintenance.

Assists other staff in the effective use of their systems and interfaces through formal/informaltraining, advisory/consulting services, report writing and project support.

Develops and maintains documentation of departmental standards and procedures for theoperation of the various systems and interfaces, including the related business processes andinternal controls.

Identifies management reporting needs and creates complex reports using reporting tools,particularly for reports requiring data from more than one system.

Develops project plans for assigned projects, monitors, and reports on project status asrequired.

Identifies implications of major system upgrades and develops and implements modificationsto existing financial system, business processes and interfaces through modifications toparameters, coding structures, existing processes, and limited programming.

Acts as a liaison with the Innovation, Energy & Technology Department and other departmentswhere required and participates in special studies, projects, upgrades, etc.

Identifies the current and future state for business processes to ensure technology solutionsmatch the business requirements
Performs related work as required. Education & Experience
Thorough knowledge of computerized financial and operating systems.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices, in particular MunicipalGovernment accounting along with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).

Thorough knowledge of systems analysis, design, and installation; each area will requireknowledge specific to that area which could include a general knowledge of computerprogramming and report writing.

Thorough knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration.
Knowledge of the corporation's financial business processes, policies, and procedure,particularly as it relates to the defined business area.

Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision in a team environment, demonstratingsound judgment and initiative to establish priorities, meet users' expectations and meetdeadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing demonstrating tact and diplomacy,to establish effective working relationships with external and internal stakeholders asnecessitated by work assignments.
