    Job Summary

    The Data Specialist and Audit Assistant will support the audit team in various administrative and analytical tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of the department. The role involves assisting in completing audit work, participating in process improvement initiatives, and contributing to process automation projects.

    One of the key goals for this role will be to assist with the administration and automation of Internal Audit's Continuous Monitoring Program. This program leverages data to detect errors, fraud, and policy non-compliance in a timely manner.

    Job Description

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    •Perform general administrative duties as directed to support the audit team.

    •Complete specific audit procedures as assigned.

    •Prepare cycles of Internal Audit's Continuous Monitoring Program (CMP).

    •Improve current procedural documentation for the CMP.

    •Leverage software and/or coding knowledge to find efficiencies in the CPM by automating aspects of the process which currently required manual intervention.

    •Utilize Microsoft 365 suite of tools for documentation, analysis, and reporting.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    •A track record of delivering successful data, coding, or software projects.

    •Has, or is currently pursuing, relevant post secondary training in Computer Science, Business, or another relevant field.

    SPECIAL SKILLS:

    •Knowledge of data analysis techniques and/or coding

    •Excellent written and oral communication

    •The ability to learn quickly and work as a member of a team

    DECISION MAKING:

    •Make independent decisions about how to effectively allocate time on competing projects, including knowing when to seek the assistance of other team members.

    •Exercise excellent judgement when communicating with members of the university community.
