CLINICAL EDUCATOR

(TEMPORARY PART TIME)


This is position will primarily be located at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus, supporting clinical nursing care at this site.

This position may include occasional travel to Louise Marshall Hospital & Palmerston & District Hospital for corporate learning activities.

  • Three rural Hospitals + one integrated management team = Wellington Health Care Alliance.
  • Embarking on several projects; recently relocated to a new hospital, renovating Emergency and Ambulatory Care departments at the LMH site, while providing topnotchroundtheclock care to our patients.
  • Located in Wellington County where staff have the luxury of choosing to live in either a rural or urban setting.

You will:


  • Provide leadership and clinical expertise to support quality excellence in patient care by planning, developing, implementing and evaluation programs to enhance clinical proficiency, quality improvement and team development.
  • Promote excellence within clinical departments through coaching and mentoring staff; develops, provides and evaluates educational programs, including orientation, skill certification, continuing education and professional development.
  • Develop educational plans and activities aimed at improving nursing/clinical knowledge, skills and competencies and in collaboration with other, supporting the ongoing professional development of the units/programs.
  • Assess learning needs and styles of nursing staff to design and deliver education that is tailored to specific need of the unit/program.
  • Support the onboarding of new staff and professional staff through the ongoing development and delivery of the general orientation program and advocate to ensure best practices are embedded in all interprofessional policies, processes and programs.
  • Champion the mission, vision and values while promoting staff and patient safety, patient experience, and engagement.

Qualifications:


  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience (ED, Critical care)
  • BScN required, Master's degree in Nursing or Education preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, and interdepartmental contacts.
  • Current ACLS required, PALS, CNA certification an asset
  • Coronary care 1 and
  • ATCN/TNCC, CTAS triage training an asset
  • Competence with monitoring equipment and arrhythmia analysis
  • Have strong computer/technology skills
  • A combination of experience and qualifications may be considered
  • Relevant experience in providing clinical education utilizing adult education principles and evidencebased practice
  • Possesses relevant clinical expertise, integrates research into practice and promotes critical thinking in the practice environment
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of nursing practice standards ensure practice according policies, procedures and standards of care
  • Proven success in providing inspirational leadership in a team environment and in motivating and enhancing performance of team members

Additional Qualifications:


  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired

Hours of work:


  • 22.5 hours per week (approximately).
  • The majority of the work will be completed during normal business hours Monday to Friday. Occasionally attendance at meetings/hospital events during nontraditional hours (early morning, evenings and weekends) is required.
  • This position requires travel between the three hospital sites and therefore a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required.


Travel will be required to our sites at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Palmerston & District Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital, so a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is required.
