Description

Purpose:

Student Financial Services is the main source of financial support and assistance for students at York University.

We work with other departments at the University, the federal and provincial governments as well as external organizations to secure the maximum funding available for York students.

Our goal is to ensure that students have the funds they require to successfully complete their degrees with little or no debt.

The purpose of this position is to provide effective and efficient customer service in support of the above mandate.

In advancing the Division of Students vision as Partners in Student Success the Scholarships & Bursaries Coordinator assists the Manager, in the administration of all scholarship, award and bursary programs and the maintenance of all related records.

This position facilitates changes in processing and advertisement of financial aid programs. The Scholarships & Bursaries Coordinator administers privately donated and university-budgeted funds for scholarships, bursaries, prizes, and emergency funding.


Education:


University degree or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks.

This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Knowledge of Financial or Student Systems, Ontario Student Assistant Program, Scholarships & Bursaries preferred.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in systems/policies/procedures
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work with multiple priorities
Ability to work under pressure and with high volume
Ability to understand interconnections of large on-line databases to retrieve, enter and manipulate data
Ability to work independently and within a team
Excellent problem-solving skills to achieve results
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent presentation skills
