Job summary:
Groundworkers assist Arborists with daily tasks. Such as keeping the work areas debris free, helping ensure safety for all crew members, and chipping woody debris.


Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Use of chain saws, hand pruners, wood chippers
  • Gathers brush and carry to chipper area
  • Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Cooperates with customer, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways
  • Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, etc. to protect employees as well as the public
  • Applies herbicides and growth regulators to stumps and brush
  • Keeps work area picked up and orderly
  • Carries and lays out tools and equipment at work site.
  • Reports the need for equipment and truck maintenance to crew foreman or General Foreman.
  • Assist during emergency response times such as storms or fires as needed.
  • Effective reporting of all problems, incidents, and accidents to the supervisor.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:


  • Experience in working around hazardous equipment.
  • Working around excessive noise from machines, chainsaws, wood chipper and must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Able to work while being exposed to all temperatures and weather and environmental conditions
  • Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
  • Must be able to communicate with others with respect and comprehend written and verbal job instructions or information while representing Wright Tree Service of Canada in a professional manner.
  • Possess the ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and selfmotivate with good time management.
Wright Tree Service of Canada's operations include safety-sensitive positions and safety-sensitive worksites.
