Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible to provide technical expertise; organize, deliver and administer environmental, health and safety training and; ensures regulatory compliance for occupational health and safety


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of research safety methods, practices, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of governing legislation bylaws and regulations such as building codes, transportation of dangerous goods, hazardous waste, biological and radiological licencing and occupational health and safety
  • Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions would be an asset
  • Knowledge of emergency response protocols and procedures, including for hazardous materials.
  • Working knowledge of office productivity software/databases, disciplinespecific software, enterprise software such as banner, technology devices and internet competency
  • Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering or risk related field.
  • Professional designations/certifications for the area of oversight (CRSP, CRST, RSO, RBSO, LSO, CIH or CHSC) considered an asset.
  • Minimum of four years of previous experience in occupation health and safety
