Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible to provide technical expertise; organize, deliver and administer environmental, health and safety training and; ensures regulatory compliance for occupational health and safety

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

Knowledge of research safety methods, practices, regulations, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of governing legislation bylaws and regulations such as building codes, transportation of dangerous goods, hazardous waste, biological and radiological licencing and occupational health and safety
Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions would be an asset
Knowledge of emergency response protocols and procedures, including for hazardous materials.
Working knowledge of office productivity software/databases, disciplinespecific software, enterprise software such as banner, technology devices and internet competency
Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

Bachelor's degree in science or engineering or risk related field.
Professional designations/certifications for the area of oversight (CRSP, CRST, RSO, RBSO, LSO, CIH or CHSC) considered an asset.
Minimum of four years of previous experience in occupation health and safety
