Your Impact:


The GTA Conveyance Division of Jacobs is seeking a
Urban Water Modeller / Project Manager for full-time employment based in the
Toronto, ON office.

Alternatively, this position could be based out of any of our other Ontario locations.

The appropriately qualified applicant will have an opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of interesting water resources projects that include stormwater and watershed management and modelling, environmental assessments, water and wastewater urben modeling.


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Working directly with the group manager, project managers, less experienced and support staff on projects, mostly within Ontario
  • Responsible for projects including communicating with client, meetings, project management, completing technical analysis and reviews, preparing reports and proposals, conceptual / preliminary and detailed designs of urban infrastructure systems both water and wastewater.
  • Utilize local knowledge and contacts to grow business and preposition for upcoming work.
  • Support in the client followup and develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Participate in the coordination of the Ontario team's participation in key conferences and sponsorship opportunities related to the respective market sector
  • Participate in the development, communication and deployment of strategies to advance Jacob's position in the Urban Modeling market sector in Ontario.
  • Run, analyze, calibrate and modify hydraulic wastewater and hydraulic water distribution system models and develop solutions to meet design criteria.
  • Prepare modelling documentation, technical memoranda and design reports.
  • Support Infrastructure Planning Studies including: Master Plans, Basement Flooding, Inflow and Infiltration Studies, etc.
  • Providing training and mentorship to our junior staff related to water/wastewater models and methods.
  • Support Senior staff with client relationships with key client contact for water/wastewater related projects.
  • Support proposal preparation, report writing, cost estimation, drawing preparation.
  • You'll be working mainly from home (unless you prefer coming into the office), with the expectation to travel for client /site meetings and occasional team meetings._

Here's What You'll Need:


  • Degree in Civil/Water Resource Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is an asset.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in conducting water resource modelling projects.
  • Advanced capability and direct experience with industry standard hydraulic/hydrologic tools/models, such as WaterCAD/WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWorks CS/ICM (1D and 2D), InfoSWMM, InfoWater, WaterGems,.
  • Understanding 3D modeling and experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is an asset.
  • Knowledge of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) modeling would be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with transient hydraulic analysis using Hammer software, and/or design would be considered an asset.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license in Ontario and willing to travel within Ontario and Canada as required.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS an asset.
  • Experience in proposal preparation including determining work scope, preparing time task breakdowns and preparing text sections on technical approach, team and project experience, etc.
  • Interested and capable to take on Project Management duties (schedule and budget control, client contact, proposal writing etc.)
  • Ability to learn quickly, communicate effectively and work with others is essential
  • Strong competencies with Microsoft office and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational, project, client and staff management skills
  • Experience delegating to less experienced staff
  • Design and construction experience related to transportation infrastructure, stormwater and/or erosion and slope stability projects will be considered an asset
  • Experience including preparation of cost estimates and tender packages as well as contract administration an asset
  • PMP Designation an asset
