DESCRIPTION


Michels Canada is currently searching for a dedicated Pipefitter/Fabricator to join our team The Pipefitter/Fabricator will be responsible for mainline or miter fabrication for pipe for a watermain.

In this role you, your expertise will contribute to maintaining a safe and secure work environment for our employees and subcontractors while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Night shift availability is required.

This position is based out of our project office located in Coquitlam, BC.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Willing and able to work in open cut trenches up to 8m deep and confined spaces on an active project with live utility work.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including production reports and safety documentation.
  • Cut, weld and form to miters as per specifications.
  • Must be comfortable assisting with layout and fitting of miters.
  • Assist welding team as required.
  • Must be able to work under mínimal supervision.
  • Must have positive attitude and able to work with rest of the crew and take direction and instruction from Superintendent and Project Supervision
  • Assists other employees when required.
  • Will experience repetitive tasks all day such as sitting, standing, twisting, kneeling, crawling, walking, using ladders, bending in awkward positions etc. Work will be labor intensive throughout shift. Must be able to perform all work duties without any restrictions or limitations.
  • TRegularly lift and/or move 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to assist or perform with other duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

:


  • Welder, Pipefitter or Fabrication Journeyperson Certificate
  • Experience with FCAW or SMAW (CWB FCAW and or SMAW an asset)
  • Must have minimum 5 years experience working with open trenches.
  • Must have minimum 5 years experience working in and around deep open cut trenches.
  • Must have minimum 5 years experience working in congested, heavily populated urban areas.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job site.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Pressure Certification is an asset
  • Experience with CWB FCAW and or SMAW an asset
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with team members and project stakeholders.

WELD TESTS**:

  • In house weld tests. Will need to pass with automatic and by hand.

EQUIPMENT**:

  • Worker will need to provide their own welding helmet.

LANGUAGES

  • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
