Your challenge- Reporting to the Group President, the Vice-President Operations is tasked with defining a production strategy in alignment with Cascades' operational strategy and aimed at maximizing the business group's operational efficiency.

In collaboration with departments and centres of expertise, you will ensure that a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices, quality management and customer focus is established and maintained.

You will participate in the production execution process committee to establish operational efficiency targets and develop and implement strategies to optimize production execution while maintaining a high level of quality.

You will provide operational leadership in all your business unit's activities; engage your team members and support them in achieving objectives; and collaborate with the Vice-President Planning and Supply Chain to exert a positive influence on costs, quality and delivery times.

  • Establish OHS priorities
  • Set operational efficiency objectives and ensure that they are achieved within the framework of an action plan and through your personal commitment
  • Develop the production strategy to optimize production capacity
  • Manage the CAPEX envelope for optimizing and maintaining equipment and return on investment
  • Engage and develop all your employees

Responsible

  • Ensure the operational effectiveness of your business group by targeting the most efficient production costs
  • Establish and implement, in collaboration with the Vice President Sales and the Vice President Supply Chain, solutions and strategies to better meet customer demands
  • Define the required production capacity strategies (meeting 3 & 4 S&OP)
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of operations to achieve operating costs that will increase the company's profitability
  • Work with the finance team to establish performance standards for your business group's budget process (availability, efficiency, OEE) in collaboration with general managers
  • Provide coaching and talent management in collaboration with the HR team
  • Actively participate in investment, acquisition and merger projects by managing the deployment of granted capital (CAPEX) and ensuring the proper execution of projects, their governance and monitoring of their benefits
  • Optimize synergy and integration within your business units and with others in the Group and the company by avoiding duplication of resources, practices and tools and by developing the employee and customerfocused vision
  • Experiences and strengths 10 to 15 years of experience in a General Manager role.
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry (a strong asset).
  • Leadership and a collaborative spirit that inspire and engage teams to achieve excellence
  • High level of integrity and business acumen that allows the organization to position itself as a leader in the field
  • Ability to build successful relationships with key customers, potential customers and partners
  • Strong communication skills, tact and diplomacy

  • Agility needed to work with various technological tools
  • Proficiency in French and English
  • Proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of SAP software or other ERP (an asset)
  • Be available to travel 50% of the time throughout North America.
