As Canadian Tire Corporation continues its mission of being customer obsessed and making data driven decisions using customer insights, the Customer Research team plays a crucial role in providing qualitative and quantitative research services across the organization.

This includes quarterly tracking, category research, custom ad-hoc research, and strategic consulting services to ensure the voice of the customer is represented.

This role provides an exciting opportunity for a quantitative market researcher/consumer research analyst to join a dynamic team at one of the largest retailers in Canada


Reporting to the Manager of Customer Research, the Customer Research Consultant will be responsible for conducting end-to-end, in-house research for quantitative research projects including; recruitment of targeted panel members, survey writing (Word), programming (Sparq), data analysis (Excel), synthesizing of findings, report preparation (PPT story telling) and presenting results to stakeholders.


The Consultant will work closely with the Customer Research Manager to execute a wide range of research projects to assist Canadian Tire's owned brand team in making data-driven decisions for the business.

Research requests can range from concept / packaging / branding test, feature / pricing optimization, U&A, drivers & barriers, segmentation etc.

Key internal clients are the owned brand marketing, product development, and category management teams.

Some of the owned brands this role directly supports are MotoMaster, Mastercraft, Maximum, Yardworks, NOMA, Paderno, CANVAS, and Vermont Castings.


_Please note this is a 12-month contract role_

  • Assisting with the research request intake process including briefing meetings with stakeholders to better understand the requirements and provide guidance on the optimal methodology to solve their objectives.
  • Develop questionnaires to answer research objectives
  • Create sampling plans and utilize industry best practices to maintain panel health
  • Leverage PowerPoint and Excel to create compelling, storydriven reports with actionable recommendations for stakeholders
  • Present research presentations to key stakeholders (including senior levels) and facilitate discussions that solve a wide range of business challenges
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across various departments and proactively find solutions to their business questions
  • Partner with third party research vendors and agencies to conduct specialized, outsourced research such as customer segmentation studies
  • Collaborate on new and innovative ways to leverage customer research across the Corporation, including the development of our new advanced analytics capability (conjoint)

What you bring

  • Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, analytics, social sciences (Sociology, Psychology) or a related field
  • Minimum 3 + years work experience in a research analyst role. Agency/supplier side research experience or Research Analyst Program graduate degree is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of market research fundamentals (questionnaire writing, sampling, reporting)
  • Programming experience in Alida (Vision Critical) or equivalent survey software (Qualtrics, Survey Gizmo, Survey Monkey, etc).
  • Solid project management experience, with the ability to multitask and lead multiple crossfunctional research projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills, including the ability to comfortably and effectively present research results in front of different types of audiences.
  • Skilled in Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for data visualization/reporting
  • Must be a collaborative team player and strategic thinker, with a positive attitude
