We are currently seeking the following professional to join our team:


Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Payroll Analyst administers the payroll system and processes all monthly benefit and government premium payments.

Oversees and administers the agency's time and attendance system, provides information to management on payroll administration issues.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers all aspects of the Payroll system, including preparation and processing biweekly payroll system for all staff and contract employees, verifying all input/output including gross pay and deductions, while maintaining complete data integrity.
  • Maintains the Payroll files for the Society's all employees ensuring compliance with government regulations.
  • Prepares all journal entries for payroll on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains records of leaves of absence, including vacations and sick time granted to staff, ensuring that payroll and benefits correspond to entitlement granted.
  • Monitors attendance records submitted from departments, bringing potential problems to the attention of the Manager of Finance.
  • Administers the time and attendance system.
  • Participates with Finance Manager in the design or modification of new and existing payroll systems, procedures and records.
  • Processes monthly payments of premiums for all employee benefits and payroll deductions, including monthly reconciliation of same, and correspondence with service providers.
  • Maintains familiarity with the Society's Benefit and Pension Plan.
  • Confirms employee information as requested by banking and lending institutions, etc.
  • Provides periodic analysis of actual/budget variances and forecasting of Salaries, Wages and Benefits.
  • Prepares and reconciles monthly and annually with OMER's, WSIB and all government required remittances.
  • Reviews payroll and liability accounts with auditors of the Society, provincial and federal agencies.
  • Works in a safe manner in accordance with the Agency's health and safety policies and procedures, and all relevant legislation.
  • Support special projects as required.
  • Produces ad hoc report requirements from Finance.
  • Completes Records of Employment and answer enquiries.
  • Responds to payroll enquiries on a timely basis.
  • Provides all employment verification letters as required by staff.
  • Provides backup to peers.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
General

  • 3 5 years of financial and/or payroll operational experience and
  • Certified Payroll Professional (PCP
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner) or working towards and/or equivalent a plus
  • Knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce HCM preferred
Specific

  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced, high volume and rapidly changing environment, as well as to get results through positive collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Process & Analysis Payroll up to 500+ employees
  • Familiar with Union & Non-Unionized, Hourly & Salary Employees
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with very high attention to detail
  • Previously demonstrated initiative and able to work with mínimal supervision
  • Service driven professional and an excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Advanced MS Office computer skills (Excel and Word)
  • A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations
  • Good analytical and process diagnostic skills and the ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and requests
  • Vendor management experience a plus

HOURS OF WORK

  • 9am5pm Monday to Friday
  • Working hours may vary and applicants must be flexible to work outside of standard office hours

HOURLY GRADE:
Grade 11 Union ($ $39.72)
