Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Descender Systems, the Descender Technician / Underground Service Tech. is responsible for to oversee all maintenance related activities of the CIS Descender product.

In this role, work will take place in our fabrication shop and on customer sites as required and dependent on business needs.

The Descender Technician is required to adhere to all company Safety, Health and Environment policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment related to the CIS Descender products.
  • Responsible for structural and mechanical fittings and general construction and maintenance activities
  • Focus on internal and external customer service through a sense of commitment and immediacy by fulfilling your tasks to the best of your ability in a timely and professional manner
  • Work closely with the warehouse department to ensure proper shipping and receiving of materials
  • Follow up with internal stakeholders to ensure schedule is on time and within budget

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NORCAT, site specific certificates, CWB Overhead crane Forklift Safety WHMIS
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to work and resolve complex issues independently
  • The following qualifications are considered an asset for this role:
  • Mechanical and/or Millwright background
  • Experience working with welding tools and machinery
  • High level of selfmotivation

- Shift flexibility for local and out of town work and travel for extended periods of time is a requirement. Ability to travel up to 50% may be required, on a variable basis.

- Proof of full vaccination may be mandatory based on the vaccination policies established by our customers (Not a CIS / ESCO Policy)
