About the Opportunity:

McElhanney's Red Deer branch is focused on providing Line-Locating services for our Alberta One Call and Ground Disturbance Clients. The team consists of 55 people split between the field and office.

Our client base is heavily focused on the oil and gas industry with a mix of large and small producers and operators, many of whom have worked with us for more than 30 years.


As the Operations Leader leading one of the largest line-locating firms in Alberta, you will support the growth and diversification of our work.

You will lead the team to continue to optimize our service delivery.

You will execute strategic objectives and meet Key Performance Indicators across McElhanney's four cornerstones of People & Communities, Clients & Partners, Processes & Technology, and Financial Metrics.

What You'll Be Doing:


  • Set strategic direction for the Branch and collaborate with other Branch Managers for regional and corporate strategy development.
  • Continue to implement operational improvements in the branch.
  • Identify and implement highvalue cross selling opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue innovative business opportunities and broaden our company impact. Assist with proposal writing, engage in industry and professional association events as a McElhanney ambassador.
  • Grow your career and leadership capability through development, mentoring and engaging work. Collaborate with colleagues across the Company doing great work with great clients
  • Establish effective workforce plans, including monitoring and elevating staff potential & performance, recruiting new members, managing performance, and developing employees.
  • Take care of your people. Grow and advance the careers of team members. Foster an engaged workplace culture.
  • Manage branch financials such as annual budgets, KPIs, quarterly forecasting, and accounting oversight (invoicing and collections) Lead branch operations such as workload management, safety, and quality management

What You'll Bring:


  • Strong commitment to fostering our culture of safety, respect, and inclusion.
  • 10+ years' experience leading and growing a business or business unit, responsible for P&L, and the growth and development of people.
