Job Title:
Store Manager St-Laurent Café


Terms:
Full Time (40 hours/week)


Probationary Period:3 months, Minimum 10 shifts months required working as a barista in our cafe as part of training prior to management.

Salary:
Base Salary plus tips from shift work. Base salary is $42,500 to $47,500 plus $9000 annual in tips based on 2023 average hourly tips

Description of Role:

We are a mission-driven company working to make high quality and ethical coffee more accessible to customers in eastern Canada.

We started as one barista in a coffee truck and today have three cafes, an online coffee subscription service and a wholesale business.

Our St-Laurent cafe is one of three stores in our business, and our flagship location in Montreal. We operate 7 days a week, are high trafficked with a diverse group of customers.

We are looking for someone who is customer-centric, driven towards excellence and passionate about our social purpose mission to lead our team of 10-12 and help meet this store's performance goals.


MUST HAVE PRIOR RETAIL, CAFE OR FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE (MIN. 2 YEARS) AND BE BILINGUAL.

Primary Responsibilities:


Financial
Managing sales results and controllable costs including payroll, cost of goods and administrative expenses with support from assistant manager.

Weekly and monthly analysis, reporting and tracking of revenues, key revenue inputs (AOV + Daily Transactions),

Prepare and meet with direct report weekly with a focus on identifying problems and offering solutions that produce positive results


Operational
Oversee and manage all orders, inventory, planning, waste management, and order updates with suppliers.

Oversee and manage the schedule including availabilities, shift changes, % payroll management, and seasonal changes

Identify and anticipate onboarding needs and lead the onboarding process, including interviewing, selecting, and training new employees

First contact for suppliers and repair and maintenance.

Ensuring equipment and space is in good working order and follows preventative maintenance cycles (coffee brewing equipment, ice machines, fridges, other)

Ensures the team is keeping the cafe environment to our cleanliness standards


Customer Experience


Lead by example and Guide our team to uphold our standards of Customer Experience including but not limited to providing seamless and delightful customer experiences end-to-end from their walking in to our café to leaving with support from assistant manager.


  • Greet every customer who walks into our cafe
  • Move dynamically on the floor to clear tables, run coffees when possible, engage with our customers
  • Provide technical product education about our coffees by articulating the value and benefit of the product to prospective home coffee drinking customers
  • Perform product display tasks (e.g., put items back in place, restock or add depleted items to the floor or grab and go fridges from inventory according to company standards.
  • Perform cleaning tasks as needed throughout the shift to maintain a very clean and orderly cafe space.

People
Create a supportive, motivating and positive work culture for a team of 8-12 with support from assistant manager.

Responsible for driving a positive and supportive employee experience from recruitment to possibly end of employment (Including training, performance reviews, delivering moments of recognition, and direct in-action feedback as needed)

Own and revise employee handbooks, procedures and systems for best workflows

Eligibility:


  • Previously held a managerial role in a similar food and beverage organization (required)
  • Hygiene and Safety certificate in Quebec (preferred)
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country in which the store is located
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have the Right to Work in Quebec
  • Must have the ability to travel to work
  • Must be comfortable lifting 40 pounds or more
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
